SKOWHEGAN — No one was injured in a fire that destroyed a home on Canaan Road beginning Thursday night.

Fire departments from eight towns responded to the blaze that began about 11 p.m. and burned well into the morning Friday. The two-story, single-family home is still standing, but is a total loss, Skowhegan Firefighter Daryl Wyman said.

The state fire marshal’s office will investigate the fire later today, but Wyman said its cause is not considered suspicious.

Firefighters from Canaan, Clinton, Cornville, Hartland, Madison, Norridgewock, Pittsfield and Skowhegan fought the stubborn blaze overnight. Wyman said the fire was extinguished about 4 a.m.

Wyman said a family of four was displaced by the fire.

This is a developing story.
