PALMYRA — A man was stabbed several times and a woman was also attacked during a robbery for drugs and cash Tuesday morning, police said, and their attackers are still at large.

The victims, whose names were not released, were attacked inside a camping trailer on Smith Road just before 5 a.m. by two men. The robbers entered the trailer through an unlocked door and demanded prescription drugs and money, according to a release on Wednesday from Detective Sgt. Carl Gottardi of the Somerset County Sheriff’s Department.

The robbers, who remain at large, may have escaped in a car after they fled, Gottardi said.

The man suffered stab wounds on his torso, a leg and an arm, Gottardi said. He tried to escape through a window and was assaulted again with a blunt object to the head while he was outside, he said.

The woman also was attacked inside the trailer, but not with a weapon, Gottardi said.

The victims were taken to Sebasticook Valley Hospital in Pittsfield in a private vehicle, and their injuries were not considered life-threatening, police said.

Gottardi said county deputies used a tracking dog to search the area.

Police asked that anyone with information on the robbery to call the sheriff’s department at 800-452-1933 or the anonymous tip line at 474-0230.
