BANGOR — The Maine Army National Guard is opening a $33 million regional training facility with a ribbon cutting ceremony.

The formalities are scheduled for Friday and open to the public at the new center in Bangor.

Guard Lt. Col. Dwaine Drummond says the Regional Training Institute will provide soldiers from all over with state-of-the-art military training.

The new facility is next to the Bangor Armed Forces Reserve Center, which is used by the Army Guard, Army Reserves, Navy Reserves and Coast Guard.

The new facility held its first class last week.
