AUGUSTA — A Winslow man was sentenced Monday to serve an initial nine months in jail for committing aggravated criminal mischief Feb. 26, 2011, in Winslow.

The remainder of the five-year sentence for Michael A. Poirier Jr., 25, was suspended, and he was placed on two years of probation.

At the sentencing hearing in Kennebec County Superior Court, Poirier also was ordered to pay $1,600 restitution in connection with the fire that damaged a Winslow bathroom.

In exchange for the plea, a charge of arson related to the same incident was dismissed.
