Winslow pedestrian injured in Clinton Avenue accident

WINSLOW — A woman was injured after she was hit by a car while she crossed Clinton Avenue Tuesday evening, according to police.

Shortly after 5 p.m., the woman, Chris Lee, was crossing Clinton Avenue from a property that she owned on one side of the street to her home on the other side of the street, according to police Officer Linda Smedberg, who was at the scene.

Witnesses said Lee, who was wearing dark clothes, stopped in the street and directly faced oncoming traffic, Smedberg said.

The driver of the Buick that hit Lee told police that he did not see her and only became aware of her presence when he heard the impact.

Smedberg said the driver of the vehicle did not appear to be speeding and is unlikely to face criminal charges.

The woman was taken to the hospital. Smedberg said Lee complained of pain, but the extent of her injuries was unknown.

Summons

IN OAKLAND, Monday, at 7:08 a.m., Heather Grant, 29, of Ayer Street, was issued a summons on a charge of operating under the influence, on Oak Street.

Arrest

IN FAIRFIELD, Monday, at 7:38 p.m., Peter C. Comeau, 58, of Center Road, was arrested on charges of domestic violence assault and obstructing report of crime, on Center Road.

IN SOMERSET COUNTY, Tuesday at 10:30 a.m., Brian Leroy Cowan, 23, of Palmyra, was arrested on charges of burglary and theft by unauthorized taking.
