Statements by City Councilor Patrick Paradis in the article, “Augusta River-view release plan irritates city officials” (Aug. 8), were hurtful and misleading.

The GOP platform, shamelessly revealed in the run-up to the Republican National Convention, is a hard-line, fanatical and unreasonable set of goals.

We hear about politicians who don’t keep their word. I’m so pleased that Patsy Crockett kept her word.

I am so tired of the mean-spirited scapegoating of the poor, as if they somehow are the cause of our economic problems.

I want to add my name to those who have thus far written in support of Patsy Crockett to be a state representative for District 57 in Augusta.
