Grieving parents support group offered
WATERVILLE — Hospice Volunteers of Waterville Area will offer a free eight-week support group for mothers and fathers who have experienced the death of a child through illness or unexpectedly such as in an accident or by suicide. The group will meet 6-8 p.m. Wednesdays, starting March 4, at the Hospice Volunteers of Waterville Area Community Center, 304 Main St.

The Executive Board of the International Olympic Committee in a meeting in Lausanne, Switzerland, on Feb. 12 chose 25 out of the 26 sports contested in the 2012 London Olympics as core sports for the 2020 Olympics and added wrestling to the seven shortlisted sports “vying for inclusion in the 2020 Olympic program as an additional sport.”
We’ve spent more for defense than we can afford
Defense Secretary Leon Panetta says that, if proposed cuts in the budget for the Defense Department are enacted, the United States will not be able to afford to maintain its status as a first-rate power in the world. It will have to throw our country’s national defense strategy out the window.
