WATERVILLE — Mid-Maine Chamber of Commerce is encouraging all eligible students to apply for the Joseph B. Ezhaya Scholarship. The $750 scholarship is awarded to a one-time recipient upon successful completion of his/her first semester of college with a 2.0 grade-point average or better, according to a press release.

Students planning to pursue a business-related field in college are invited to apply for the Franklin Scholar program. Franklin Savings Bank’s Community Development Foundation has announced it will again award 11 local students a total of $33,000 in scholarships this spring, according to a press release.

Organic Initiative ranking period setLocal producers can learn about program eligibility
FARMINGTON — A second ranking period for the Organic Initiative and the Seasonal High Tunnel Initiative is planned, according to a USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service press release. Interested producers should contact the Farmington NRCS office soon to find out if they are eligible for either of these programs. Applications for the second ranking period of 2013 are due at the NRCS offices by close of business on April 19. Both initiatives are funded through the Environmental Quality Incentives Program and offer technical and financial assistance.
