KENNEBEC JOURNAL GIRLS INDOOR TRACK AND FIELD ATHLETE OF THE YEAR: Jade Canak
It wasn't how well her season started or the numbers that she put up that surprised Erskine Academy indoor track and field coach Dave Hickey. Actually, Hickey said nothing surprised him about Jade Canak. He was however, impressed with how consistently good the Erskine junior was on a daily basis.

Ian Wilson sat at the front of the bus on a cold, dark December night on the ride home from an early season track and field meet and complained about how cold his truck was going to be when he drove home. Bethanie Brown responded to her coach that it was probably going to be pretty chilly on her cool down run.

Unity voters approve $250K bond for new Town Office
Unity residents on Saturday allowed selectmen to borrow $250,000 to fund the building of a Town Office, approved raising $405,114 in property taxes to fund the 2013 municipal budget and spending up to $20,000 of surplus to revise the town's comprehensive plan.
