Federal budget cuts inspire benefit for homebound seniors

Active Agers Talent Show being held at Jewett Hall on the UMA campus on

May 18th.

Spectrum Generations senior nutrition program is partnering with the

University of Maine at Augusta Senior College to produce the Active

Agers Talent Show on May 18 from 2 to 4pm at Jewett Hall UMA. Don Brown

from 93.5 FM True Oldies will act as the Master of Ceremonies for this

afternoon of fun, humor and music performed by local talent. Money

raised from ticket sales and donations will benefit Spectrum Generations

Meals on Wheels Program to help feed central Maine’s homebound seniors

and disabled adults.

Dancers, actors, musicians, and vocalists are needed. Whatever your

talent may be, if you are 55 years or older, come unleash the power of

age by sharing your special talents and support a good cause at the same

time. A few of the acts already lined up from recent talent auditions

will be Douglas Clark, a local guitarist; the Swing Time Band Trio with

sounds from the 30’s; local celebrity Katie Perry with some of her

favorite jokes; and the Granite Hill Estates line dancers performing the

“Gotta Dance” slide.

mandated budget cuts inspired us to pull together this benefit to offset

cuts to our Meals on Wheels program, a program that helps our most

vulnerable homebound seniors and disabled adults.”
