Bill and Jackie Bryant’s farmhouse, barn and belongings were destroyed by fire in Knox on Monday.
“We lost everything but we are alive and have our memories,” according to Jackie Bryant, who said the home was insured.
The couple, a daughter and a grandson escaped the fire but lost several pets, she said.
Five area fire departments battled the blaze, which forced the closure of state Route 137 for several hours Monday.
Tuesday morning, investigators from the state Fire Marshal’s Office were looking for the fire’s cause.
The home was once a stagecoach stop between Belfast and Waterville.
