BOSTON — Two friends of Boston marathon bombing suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev have filed a joint motion with prosecutors to cancel a probable cause hearing on charges of conspiring to obstruct justice in the Boston Marathon bombings.

The hearing for Dias Kadyrbayev and Azamat Tazhayakov had been scheduled for Tuesday.

The motion filed Friday says both men have agreed to waive the hearing.

Kadyrbayev and Tazhayakov attended the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth with Tsarnaev. They were charged last week with conspiring to obstruct justice after seeing Tsarnaev’s photo on television as a suspect in the bombings. Their lawyers say the men had no role in the bombings.

Defendants often waive probable cause hearings.

A spokeswoman for U.S. Attorney Carmen Ortiz said prosecutors joined the defense motion “as a matter of convenience for the court.”
