The Franklin County budget committee will take a final vote on a proposed $5.5 million budget at 5 p.m. Thursday.

The recommended budget for the upcoming fiscal year, which begins July 1, is up 4 percent from the current one.

There also will be a public hearing on the budget at 5 p.m. Monday in the Franklin County Superior Court.

Representatives from county departments and charitable organization seeking funds will be available to answer questions.

The proposed budget includes $1.5 million for the sheriff’s department, $792,479 for the communications center and $274,313 for social and economic programs.

After Thursday’s hearing, the Franklin County commissioners will be able to review the vote and make recommendations, but the budget committee will have the final say.
