MOXIE GORE — An Alaska woman was treated for minor injuries after she was rescued from the Kennebec River Thursday.
The woman, Heather MacDonald, 29, of Palmer, Alaska, fell out of her inflatable kayak around 11 a.m., said Maine Warden Kim Bates.
McDonald managed to swim to a calm part of the river where she was picked up by river guides in a passing raft and taken to the Moxie Pond boat landing.
Bates said MacDonald complained of head, foot and leg pain and was taken by ambulance to Redington-Fairview General Hospital.
West Forks Fire Department, Upper Kennebec Valley Ambulance Service and white water rafting guides assisted with the rescue.
Moxie Gore is located just southwest of the Kennebec River’s headwaters on Indian Pond.
