LITCHFIELD — A fire on Hallowell-Litchfield Road destroyed a farmhouse and a barn Friday afternoon.
Tom Bureau, a friend of homeowners David and Robin Cummings, at 1838 Hallowell-Litchfield Road, said no one was hurt in the blaze, which was reported about 3 p.m.
The home and barn were both destroyed, he said, and the State Fire Marshal’s Office was called to investigate.
The home, which Bureau said was “historically” old, had undergone renovation recently.
“It’s really sad,” he said. “They’re great people.”
Firefighters from several communities responded. Litchfield firefighters who responded to the blaze could not be reached for comment Friday night.
