Madison students leave lasting legacy near boat landing
MADISON — Madison eighth-grade students left a lasting legacy of their celebration recently with forest industry leader UPM’s global Plant-a-Tree initiative. The students planted 500 trees along the Kennebec River at the Madison Boat landing. Several community partners came together for the afternoon event sponsored by UPM Madison including the Maine Tree Foundation, Kohl’s Department Stores and Plum Creek Timber Company, according to a press release.
‘Celebrate Our Youth’ exhibit open through June 7
FARMINGTON — The Emery Community Arts Center on the University of Maine, Farmington campus, is featuring the art of local high school students with the second annual “Celebrate Our Youth” exhibit. The show is free and open to the public and opened Wednesday. The show is open daily 11 a.m.-6 p.m., and runs through Friday, June 7.
