Two people were injured Friday night in an ATV accident at the intersection of Lower Guinnea and Sawtell roads in Lebanon.

The unidentified driver was trying to turn into Sawtell Road from Lower Guinnea Road at 11:05 p.m. when the vehicle hit a tree, said Daniel Roy, Lebanon assistant Lebanon fire chief.

A female passenger was thrown about 10 feet into the woods and the driver hit the tree head first, said Roy.

Neither the driver or passenger was wearing a helmet, Roy said.

The driver was taken to Goodall Hospital in Sanford and the passenger was taken to Frisbee Hospital in Rochester, N.H. Neither one had life-threatening injuries, said Roy.

The Maine State Police are investigating the cause of the crash, said Roy.
