BANGOR — A 24-year-old Waterville man was sentenced Wednesday to 37 months in federal prison, followed by three years of supervised release, for his role in a conspiracy that brought drugs to central Maine from New York City.

Rodney Lacroix pleaded guilty Dec. 4, 2012, in U.S. District Court, and Wednesday’s sentencing hearing before Chief Judge John A. Woodcock was held in the same court. Lacroix has been in custody since pleading guilty.

In all, 20 people were arrested and charged in connection with cocaine and oxycodone trafficking, including Maurice McCray of Waterville, who arranged to get drugs through his mother in New York, according to court filings.

Both McCray and his mother pleaded guilty to various charges as did a number of the codefendants.

The conspiracy lasted Jan. 1 to March 17, 2012.

Lacroix was represented by attorney Hunter Tzovarros and the prosecutor was Assistant U.S. Attorney Joel Casey.
