Voters in Litchfield, Sabattus and Wales are going to the polls today to consider a $17.6 million proposed school system budget for the 2013-2014 school year.

Polls will be open in all three towns until 8 p.m.

The Regional School Unit 4 budget is about $55,000 less than the budget rejected by voters on June 11.

In addition, the school unit expects to get about $175,000 in additional revenue from the state, which will help reduce the cost to taxpayers.

In June, Sabattus was the only town to reject the budget, but the margin there was wide enough to defeat it.

RSU 4 has estimated the increase in each town:
• Litchfield: a 0.71 mil increase in the tax rate

• Sabattus: a 1.27 mil increase in the tax rate

• Wales: a 1.11 mil increase in the tax rate
