Camp Runoia camper Charlotte Westermann does a backward dunk of a pair of sneakers during a “Dunk Your Kicks” event in Belgrade on Wednesday.

Children donated 90 pairs of sneakers as part of the Max Cure Foundation and Maine Camp Experience collaboration. The footwear will be sent to developing nations.

Camp Runoia owner Pam Cobb said the children learned about social action and sent a message of hope.

“They also kept the sneakers out of a landfill,” Cobb said.
