ANSON — Harry Ralph Withee and Charlotte Smith (Mellows) Withee celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on June 29, 2013 with their four children, their spouses and three grandchildren: Harold Withee, Ann Withee Heald, Andrew Heald, Ashton Heald, June Withee Knox, Sam Knox, Emily Knox, Ethan Knox, Jennifer Withee and special friend Andrea Smith.

The family enjoyed a weekend getaway at the Bar Harbor Regency Hotel overlooking Frenchman’s Bay. The anniversary feast took place at Stewman’s Lobster Pound on the resort property and was followed by a special cake, which was enjoyed poolside. The family enjoyed exploring Acadia National Park and walking along the shore looking for sea glass and shells.

H. Ralph and Charlotte were married at the Madison Congregational Church on June 29, 1963 with Rosemary (Mellows) Merry and Clifford Withee standing by their side. It was a sweltering hot summer day.

Ralph is a semi-retired insurance agent and Charlotte is a retired self-employed nursery school teacher of 37 years. They have resided in the same house in Anson for 50 years and they are very involved with the church, Anson historical society, food cupboard, Legion and many more community activities and causes.

Prior to the family getaway, a surprise party was held on June 15 with family and friends at the American Legion Hall.
