WATERVILLE — Literacy Volunteers in the Waterville Area will conduct a three-day tutor workshop at Waterville Public Library. The workshops are set for 5:30-8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 26; Tuesday, Sept. 3; and Thursday, Sept. 5. Completing the three-day tutor training will certify participants as a Literacy Volunteer.

Specifics of this training include general information on literacy, methods and strategies for working with adult learners, and tools and tips for tutoring success. This workshop is hands-on and interactive.

The training is free, but a $10 materials fee to help cover the cost of the tutoring manual is requested for “Tutor, 8th ed., New Readers Press.” The manual is specifically designed to cover the skills and information needed when working with an adult learner.
