St. Mark’s Church

dedicates Peace Pole

WATERVILLE — St. Mark’s Episcopal Church will dedicate its new Peace Pole on Sunday at the conclusion of its 9 a.m. service.

The Peace Pole project was originated by the World Peace Prayer society in 1955 in Japan to spread the message and prayer, “May Peace Prevail on Earth.”

This message is on the St. Mark’s pole in four languages — English, French, Greek, and Arabic — to reflect some of the major ethnic groups and languages that comprise the community of greater Waterville.

All are welcome to join in the service and dedication. St. Mark’s Church is at the corner of North Street and Eustis Parkway.
