WINTHROP – The Alfred W. Maxwell Jr. Legion Post 40 will hold its raffle and family fun night this evening.
 
The event is scheduled for 6 p.m. at the post’s headquarters across from the public beach at 117 Bowdoin Street.
 
The raffle for prizes that include 17 different meat packages, said the legion’s Bill Crowley. There were be events for the whole family, including kids games and door prizes.
 
Tickets are $5, or three for $12, and include hamburgers and hotdogs. Tickets will be available at the door.
 
Proceeds from the event will benefit legion events, such as youth oration competitions and scholarships, Crowley said.
