CUSHING — A Friendship man has died in an early morning crash in the Maine town of Cushing.
The Knox County Sheriff’s Department said Elliot Montgomery of Friendship was traveling on Route 97 around 1:30 a.m. Saturday, when the pickup truck went off the road crashing through some trees and rolling over.
Montgomery was pronounced dead at the scene.
WLBZ-TV reported the passenger, Frederick Ames, Jr. of Friendship, was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Authorities say it appears that speed and alcohol contributed to the crash.
