Ye part of university’s annual service day
INDIANAPOLIS — May Ye, of Waterville, was one of 557 Butler University students to participate in Bulldogs Into the Streets, a large-scale single day of community service hosted by the Butler Volunteer Center. This year’s event partnered with 17 Indianapolis organizations including Gleaners Food Bank and Holliday Park. The 2013 event had the most student participants in the program’s 19-year history.
Oct. 5 event to honor Lebanese community
WATERVILLE — St. Joseph Maronite Catholic Church will host a Hafli on Oct. 5 at MacCrillis-Rousseau Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8835 at 175 Veterans Drive in Winslow. The event will benefit a new roof at the church’s rectory. Dinner will begin at 6 p.m. and an evening of dancing will follow from 7:30 to 11 p.m. Tickets cost $35 per person, with tables of 10 are available for $300.
