Falls Prevention Awareness Day will be observed on the first day of fall, Sunday, Sept. 22, to promote and increase public awareness about how to prevent and reduce falls among older adults. Throughout the week, Spectrum Generations centers across central Maine have planned area events.

SKOWHEGAN — A Mad Hatter’s Tea Party is set from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Lakewood Restaurant. Hats, gloves and costumes are encouraged.

WATERVILLE — Mid Maine’s Global Forum’s “Plight of Myanmar’s Rohingya People” presentation by Maung Maung Than (Tony) and Mya Nandar Aung (Nandar), is set for at 11:45 a.m. Sept. 26 at The REM Center, 93 Main St., according to a REM press release.

FARMINGTON — Four youth groups within Greater Franklin County recently kicked off “Project Sticker Shock,” a youth-led initiative to change adult attitudes about selling and providing alcohol to minors. The project is sponsored by the Maine Office of Substance Abuse to bring attention to the issue of underage drinking and the adults who provide alcohol to minors.

PHILLIPS — As part of its monthly “Arts on the Move” program, the Phillips Public Library, 96 Main St., will sponsor two events Saturday.

OAKLAND — The Robotics Team will host Mainely SPIRIT at 8:30 a.m. Saturday at Messalonskee High School. Doors open at 7:30 a.m. for the free event.

HINCKLEY — Two Sky Programs for girls and their families or siblings, Explore our Sky, are set for 10 a.m.-noon and 1-3 p.m. Saturday at L.C.Bates Museum Observatory.

FARMINGTON — Franklin Community Health Network invites community members to attend its annual meeting. The network is a locally controlled not-for-profit of rural health care providers that includes Franklin Memorial Hospital, Evergreen Behavioral Services, Franklin Health, NorthStar, and the Healthy Community Coalition of Greater Franklin County.

SOLON — A piano concert, featuring Linda Cone and Doug Drown, is set for 5-6:45 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 22, at Solon Congregational Church.

BURNHAM — Winnecook Christian Church will host Heaven’s Blend who will perform in concert at 7 p.m. on Friday at the the Winnecook Christian Church at on North Horseback Road. This event is free and open to the public.
