Search still underway for missing man

WINTHROP — The search for a missing Stanley Road man continued Tuesday.

Winthrop police Capt. Ryan Frost said state game wardens returned to the 333 Stanley Road home of 60-year-old Thomas Devoy. The search by a handful of wardens focused on an area around the house, Frost said.

Meanwhile, Winthrop police checked areas known to interest Devoy and a Maine Marine Patrol plane covered the area.

“Our investigation continues,” Frost said.

Devoy is believed to have left his home early Sunday morning wearing brown sweat pants, a black The North Face fleece pullover and slippers. Devoy, who is about 5 feet 4 inches tall and weighs about 140 pounds, left his cellphone and wallet behind.

Frost said in a Sunday news release that he had “no indication of destination or any intent.”

The Maine Warden Service used search dogs and an airplane to search for Devoy in the woods surrounding his home during the day Sunday, according to the news release.

Sunday night and Monday morning were rainy and cold, and while the temperature rose during the day, rain, sometimes heavy, and wind continued through the day.

Frost said searchers have received a handful of tips, but none of the information has proved fruitful.

The Police Department asks anyone who has seen or had contact with Devoy since Saturday to call 911 or 377-7226.
