Pet program offered by Hospice

SKOWHEGAN — Hospice Volunteers of Somerset County recently announced a new program, Pet Peace of Mind, which recognizes and actively supports the unique bond between hospice patients and their Pets, according to a press release. The program launches Tuesday and aligns with the Hospice Volunteers of Somerset County’s mission to care for people with life-limiting illness, give comfort and solace to those who are grieving and educate the community.

MHS students named Commended Students

OAKLAND — Messalonskee High School Principal Jon Moody recently announced that Amanda Knight, Peter Littlefield, Mikayla Turner and Eric Van Der Karr have been named Commended Students in the 2014 National Merit Scholarship Program. A Letter of Commendation from the school and the National Merit Scholarship Corporation, which conducts the program, will be presented by the principal to these scholastically talented seniors.
