SKOWHEGAN — The Somerset Beekeepers announces its third annual bee-school Basic Beekeeping for Beginners. Join Somerset Beekeepers’ President Samantha Burns of the Runamuk Acres Farm & Apiary to learn more about honeybees, how to establish new hives, seasonal maintenance techniques, natural beekeeping methods, and pest and disease management.
The course cost $40 per person or couple and includes course manual along with a one-year membership with the Somerset Beekeepers, which affords the new beekeepers access to club resources and a mentors’ hotline. Sponsored by the Somerset County Extension Office, where classes will be held Wednesday evenings, Feb. 5-26. Space is limited, preregistration is recommended.
