A driver escaped unharmed when his SUV went off Clinton Avenue in Benton and rolled down an embankment Monday morning.
“He suffered no injuries,” said Chief Deputy Ryan Reardon, of the Kennebec County Sheriff’s Office.
The driver, Reid Liberty, described by Reardon as being in his 20s, hit a patch of ice while traveling south on the road, which is Route 100, shortly after 7:30 a.m.
Liberty’s Jeep skidded into a guardrail, bounced off it and then went down a steep embankment on the opposite side of the road.
Reardon said it took two tow trucks to remove the car, which was totalled, from the road.
Reardon said there were no other cars involved and that he doesn’t expect any charges to be brought in relation to the incident.
