State Police say a Trenton woman was stabbed overnight inside her home, and a man was later found in nearby woods with self-inflicted stab wounds.
Both are being treated at Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor and both reside at the house on Oak Point Road.
James Stanton, 48, has been charged with aggravated assault. He is being treated for severe knife wounds.
Stanton was found by State Troopers about an hour after the stabbing was reported Wednesday. Troopers, assisted by Game Wardens, located Stanton after following his foot prints in the snow. Stanton was Lifeflighted to the hospital and has been charged with aggravated assault. He is now under police guard.
The 21-year-old woman’s wounds are less severe. She ran to a neighbor’s home about 1 a.m. to report the stabbing, and she was transported to the hospital by ambulance. Her name is not being released.
State Police detectives plan to search the house as they continue the investigation.
