The Gardiner Planning Board review of a medical marijuana growing operation scheduled for Tuesday has been postponed until next month.

The board, scheduled discuss the proposal at 6 p.m. April 8 at City Hall, will conduct a site review for CBD Headquarters LLC’s application to use part of a warehouse building at 650 River Ave. for the production of medical marijuana products.

Nate Rudy, director of economic and community development for the city, said the applicant, Eli Poulin, requested delaying the review.

A site review is the most extensive review conducted by the city for new businesses, Rudy said. He said the proposed use is allowed in the zoning district.

Rudy said although some people may think negatively of medical marijuana, it is a highly regulated industry.

“We feel fairly comfortable that Gardiner can support an operation of this kind,” he said.

Poulin declined to talk about his proposal.
