A 9-year-old Belgrade girl was found cold but otherwise unhurt Saturday evening after getting lost walking near Sahagian Road.

Chief Deputy Ryan Reardon of the Kennebec County Sheriff’s Office said the girl’s family reported her missing a little before 9 p.m. Saturday. Her parents said the girl disappeared while making the roughly 100-yard walk to a relative’s home. The girl was reportedly wearing a sweatshirt, ski jacket and sweat pants. Neighbors had not seen the girl, Reardon said.

“We got worried just like the parents did when we didn’t find her,” he said.

The search 90-minute search ultimately included game wardens and Maine State Police. The girl was found outside an empty home on nearby Bluebird Drive. The girl was slightly hypothermic but otherwise safe, Reardon said.

The girl told searchers she took an alternative route to the relative’s home and lost her way. Reardon said the girl went to the house on Bluebird Drive hoping to find someone at home.
