FARMINGTON — Franklin County Soil and Water Conservation District will host a pond construction and maintenance information session at 8 a.m. Tuesday, April 15, at Farmington Municipal Building’s downstairs conference room.
Bobby Van Riper, of Maine Inland Fisheries and Wildlife Service, and Candi Gilpatric, Maine Natural Resources Conservation Service civil engineer, will present the session. Van Riper will discuss many topics including the importance of oxygen levels and temperature for fish health along with other biology type information such as algae and cattail control.
Participants will be given a “Ponds — Planning, Design, Construction” handbook, a set of informational handouts, and a certificate of participation, plus new knowledge about ponds.
Cost is $20 through April 4, or $25 after that date. Registration forms can be picked up at the 107 Park St. office.
