SKOWHEGAN — Darla Pickett was elected to a one-year term on the town Board of Selectmen with 277 votes Tuesday, and Donald Skillings was elected to a three-year term with 443 votes.

Pickett is a former Morning Sentinel reporter and Skillings is owner of Skillings Insurance Agency Inc.

There were 1,016 votes cast in Tuesday’s town election.

In balloting for selectman, six candidates were running for a one-year term to fill the seat vacated with the retirement of Selectman Donald Lowe.

In the race for the full, three-year term, five candidates sought to succeed Selectman Steve Spaulding, who did not seek re-election.

Candidates Tuesday in the race for one three-year term on the Board of Selectmen were:

• Derek A. Ellis, 42, park ranger and manager at Lake George Regional Park.

• Robert A. Holt, 70, is a school crossing guard for the Police Department and a newspaper carrier.

• Michelle L. Cummings, 41, a medical coder at Redington-Fairview General Hospital in Skowhegan.

• Richard E. Prentiss, 48, is a local building contractor.

Selectman for a one-year term:

• Siren B. Soren, 44, a physical education instructor at the high school.

• Steve Spaulding, 60, whose three-year term on the board expires this month.

• Jennifer E. Olsen, 49, is the executive director of Waterville Main Street and served for two years as director of Main Street Skowhegan.

• Tyler Terstegen, 38, who works in information technology at Redington-Fairview General Hospital Skowhegan.

• Thomas L. Batchelder Sr., of Casino Hill Trading Post.

In the race for a three-year term on the School Administrative District 54 board of directors there were five candidates for four open seats.

• Mark A. Bedard with 452 votes.

• Jeannie M. Conley with 477 votes.

• Karyn J. Curran (incumbent) with 456 votes.

• Margaret A. “Peggy” Lovejoy (incumbent) with 394.
