A man was seriously injured in a single-vehicle crash on Saturday evening.

Jeffrey Hinds, 51, was driving his 1999 Ford pickup truck on Main Street in Wayne, traveling west at about 5:43 p.m. As he approached the intersection with Besse Road, the truck went off the road and rolled over several times.

Hinds was not wearing a seat belt, according to the Kennebec County Sheriff’s Office, and he was ejected from the truck, suffering injury. He was flown by medical helicopter to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston, where he was admitted into the critical care unit.

The nursing supervisor at the hospital said Sunday that she was not authorized to provide information about Hinds’ condition.

The crash is under investigation by the sheriff’s office, including blood testing for possible intoxication, which is standard in any crash involving serious injuries.
