Multiple construction projects on the northern section of the Maine Turnpike between exit 103 in Gardiner and exit 109 in Augusta could delay traffic next week, Maine Turnpike Authority officials warn.

There will be nighttime paving as well as limited daytime lane closures as workers repair drainage and seal cracks. Depending on traffic volumes, motorists could experience some delays, authority officials said in a news release.

Additional daytime lane closures will take place for construction work at the Litchfield Road Bridge at mile marker 106. Lane closures will take place in both directions. Some northbound lane closures during the evening commute could cause traffic delays next week, officials said. Beginning in July, lane closures there will be restricted to between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., and at night, to avoid the morning and evening commutes.

Also, in the weeks ahead southbound milling of the Turnpike road surface will occur between exits 103 and 109. The work will typically be done at night but some could still be taking place during the morning hours, the release said.

Message boards will be in place to inform approaching travelers of closures, and Highway Advisory Radio broadcasts on 1610 AM will also be used to inform drivers, officials said.
