SKOWHEGAN — Sign ups are underway for the second annual Lake George/Somerset Sports and Fitness Sprint Triathlon Sunday, Sept. 14. The Triathlon is a unique point to point sprint triathlon with 1/4 mile swim, 15-mile bike ride and 3.5 mile out and back run.

There will be T-Shirts, unique medals, prizes and a post part. The triathlon is open to those 15 and older, this race can be done individually or as a team. The race begins at Lake George Regional Park on the Skowhegan/Canaan line.

The one-quarter-mile swim begins at the east shore and participants will swim around the island where spectators and fans can see the entire swim.

The bike transition is at the west shore. The bike ride is a 15-mile flat country road with a few rolling hills and very wide break-down lanes to travel in to Somerset Sports and Fitness.

The run is an out and back 3.5-mile run that travels down along the River Walk, ending with a challenging couple of hills to finish. The race is being officially timed and will have police escorts, EMS services and volunteers all along the route.
