WINSLOW — Historical images of Winslow and other parts of northern Kennebec County, and a Maine Memory Network presentation is set for 6-7:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 9, at the Winslow Public Library.
Maine Memory Network, an online museum and archive of historical images, interpretive exhibits, community histories, and more, includes hundreds of images from the central Maine region.
Since 2001, Maine Memory has provided a free service to historical societies and other collecting organizations to share photographs, documents, images of artifacts and stories about their communities’ histories.
Candace Kanes, curator and historian of Maine Historical Society’s Maine Memory Network, will show features of the site and discuss how individuals can engage with the website and how organizations can get involved. Kanes will be joined by Deborah Staber, curator of L.C. Bates Museum, in Hinckley, which has more than 400 items on Maine Memory.
Attendees are welcome to bring a laptop or tablet to follow along online, but no equipment is required.
The presentation is sponsored by Maine Historical Society and the Maine State Library.
