SIDNEY — A 19-year-old man required hospital treatment after his car flipped over on West River Road Wednesday afternoon.

Jacob Collins, 19, of Sidney, was driving a Ford Focus sedan when he lost control of the car on West River Road at around 2 p.m. The car flipped onto the front lawn of 2196 West River Road, uprooting shrubbery before it landed upside down on the side of the road.

Kennebec County Sheriff’s Deputy Brittany Morin said that speed was a factor in the crash and the roads may have been slick from the light rain.

Collins was taken to Alfond Center for Health by Delta Ambulance for a possible concussion, Morin said. Collins was on the way to see a friend, according to Morin. The Ford Focus was heavily damaged.

One lane of West River Road was closed for about an hour Wednesday as a tow truck cleaned up the wreckage and removed the Ford from the scene.
