The Gardiner Tigers have won consecutive games to reach .500 for the first time since the 2012 season. The Tigers play at Brewer on Friday night and a victory would put them smack dab in the Pine Tree Conference Class B playoff hunt.

Senior Jake Truman, a tight end and linebacker, has enjoyed a standout season for the Tigers this fall. Truman took some time to answer a few questions this week.

The team element. It’s better than any other sport.

Why did you start playing football?

My dad started me in it. He played all through high school and everything, and I just fell in love with the sport. I liked playing football so I just kept with it.

How old were you when you first started playing football?

I think it was first grade, I started playing flag. So like six or seven.

That’s a tough one. Kind of Nelson Mandela, for staying so tough the whole time he was in prison.

I haven’t committed anywhere yet, but I’m looking at Bridgewater College in Virginia (for lacrosse).
