BRUNSWICK — Bowdoin College completed the installation of the largest solar project in Maine.
The college says there are nearly 4,500 solar panels in the 1.2 megawatt project. There are four major installations: a ground-mount at the former Brunswick Naval Air Station, rooftop systems at the Farley Field House and the Sidney J. Watson Arena and Greason Pool.
Officials say the project is six times bigger as the next largest solar project in the state. It’s expected to cut the college’s annual electricity costs by 8 percent.
An additional system is planned this year for installation on the college’s new residence hall.
