SKOWHEGAN — Main Street Skowhegan and volunteers are gearing up for Skowhegan’s 22nd Annual Holiday Stroll Friday, Dec. 5, and Saturday, Dec. 6, according to a news release from the Main Street Skowhegan.

The Stroll will kick off with a lighted, holiday-themed parade at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 5. The parade will wind through downtown with Santa bringing up the rear.

A few downtown shops will stay open late the night of the parade, offering treats like free gift wrapping at Country Crow Primitives and free hot chocolate at the Skowhegan Fleuriste and The Bankery.

Festivities continue Saturday, Dec. 6, with Breakfast with Santa, Hight Chevrolet Bike Giveaway, Festival of Trees, Main Street Bonfire, and wagon rides. Various points downtown will have activities and crafts.

Downtown businesses will offer treats and merchandise promotions throughout the day.

New this year is a chili cook-off organized by Tina White of Crafty Creations. Folks can warm themselves in front of the bonfire, listen to the Skowhegan Community Band, and judge some chili.

Returning this year is Main Street’s Holiday Stroll gift baskets filled with locally sourced items. Main Street volunteers are putting together gift baskets for both children and adults. Baskets will be ready to purchase through Holiday Stroll at The Skowhegan Fleuriste, Country Crow Primitives and The Children’s Cottage. Proceeds benefit the work Main Street Skowhegan does to improve downtown.
