Water color and oil painting art demonstration are set for 10-11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 14. Volunteer George Bent will offer a free demonstration showcasing landscape and marine painting. For more information or to register, call 873-4745.

What You Need to Know free legal seminar will begin at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 23. Nale Law Offices will explain what probate is, what is required, how long it takes, how expensive it is and more, including avoiding probate court. There will be time for questions and answers following the seminar. Preregistration is preferred.

AARP Free Tax Aide Assistance, tax assistance offered by AARP for taxpayers with low and moderate income, with special attention to those 60 and older. Martin Luther King, Jr., community breakfast is set for 7:30-9 a.m. Monday, Jan. 19. Each year the Center teams up with the Waterville Rotary Club to host the community breakfast to honor Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Featured speaker will be Richard Biffle, from Thomas College. Purchase tickets at the Muskie Center or contact a Waterville Rotary member. Cost is $7 for adults, $3 for children younger than 12. For more information, call 873-4745.

The 16th annual Gene & Lucille Letourneau ice fishing derby is set for Sunday, Feb. 22. Purchase tickets at the Muskie Center or online at www.spectrumgenerations.org. Tickets cost $3 for one, $5 for two, or $10 for five. Each ticket allows participants to enter one fish for weigh-in and enters the individual to win a door prize. Weigh in for fish is from 2 to 5 p.m. at Spectrum Generations’ Muskie Center. First, second and third prizes will be offered for adults and a separate category for children 15 and younger. A live auction will follow weigh-in. Proceeds benefit Spectrum Generations Meals on Wheels and other programs. For tickets for for more information, call 873-4745.
