Waterville police say a driver confused the gas and brake pedals, causing a car to crash into a house Saturday on Carver Street.

No one was injured in the crash.

Police reports on the crash were not immediately available, and the identity of the driver and homeowner were not available Saturday. It appeared from the position of the car that it had backed into the house.

Waterville police Sgt. Daniel Goss said it does not appear a medical condition, alcohol or drugs were contributing factors.

Jeff Tuttle said he was in his back yard on Louise Avenue when he heard the crash at the duplex near the intersection of Carver Street and Louise Avenue and saw a dust cloud.

He rushed to the home and called 911.

Tuttle said the occupants of the home were not in the room when the car vehicle crashed through the wall, destroying the couch upon which they were seated minutes before.

“They were very lucky,” he said. “They’d just left the living room.”

Goss estimated the damage at approximately $10,000.
