FARMINGTON — Aaron Willingham has garnered plenty of awards during his career at Mt. Blue High School and Thursday he added one more to the trophy case.

It was announced Thursday that the Cougars senior was the recipient of the 2014-15 Gatorade Maine Boys Cross Country Runner of the Year. He is the first athlete from Mt. Blue to ever win the award.

Willingham won the Class A individual state championship this past fall with a time of 16 minutes, 0.62 seconds, and later went on to finish 22nd at the New England championships with a time 16:16. His time of 15:58.3 at the Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference A championship was the fastest 5K of the season in Maine.
