A Gorham man’s car destroyed a new truck and he is facing a possible $135 fine after police say he failed to defrost his windshield and couldn’t see an oncoming vehicle in a Farmington accident.

Alex Yankowsky, 20, was charged with operating a motor vehicle with an obstructed view in connection with the incident, said Farmington police secretary Bonnie Pomeroy.

At 8:32 a.m., Yankowsky pulled out of Pleasant Street and onto Main Street. His view allegedly was obstructed by the ice on his windshield, causing him to drive his 2005 Honda Accord into a 2015 GMC Sierra.

The truck, driven by Jeffery Dobson, of New Gloucester, spun around from the impact and hit a utility pole, Pomeroy said.

The truck needed to be towed from the scene and was considered to have disabling frame damage. Officer Ryan Rosie, of the Farmington Police Department, cited Yankowsky with the civil charge for allegedly driving with an obstructed view.

“Luckily, nobody was hurt,” Pomeroy said.
