An Irish-themed book reading is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Hubbard Free Library in Hallowell.

Winthrop author Barbara Walsh will discuss her book “August Gale: A Father and Daughter’s Journey into the Storm,” which is about the 1935 gale that killed several of her Irish Newfoundland sea-faring ancestors. Walsh spent nine years and conducted more than 200 interview while researching the book. She will also talk about working with artist Jamie Wyeth on her children’s book “Sammy in the Sky.”

The library is located at 115 Second St.
