CARIBOU — Police say one of the victims in a head-on collision that killed four people in northern Maine was pregnant.
The crash happened Monday morning when 38-year-old Kimberly Lausier of Madawaska tried to pass an 18-wheeler. Maine Department of Public Safety spokesman Steve McCausland says Lausier was pregnant. Her car collided with a car driven by 33-year-old Bobbi-Jo Johnston of Fort Fairfield.
Both drivers, Johnston’s mother and 2-year-old daughter died in the crash. The only survivor was Lausier’s 53-year-old husband, Robert. He was hospitalized with leg injuries that are not considered life-threatening.
The crash occurred on Route 161 about 10 miles from the Canadian border. It is still under investigation.
